If you’ve ever needed a tooth crowned before, you know that the process can take some time. Waiting a few weeks between appointments isn’t an uncommon thing to experience.
The good news is that faster dental crowns are now a reality, thanks to new technology. This same-day dental crown technology is called CEREC, and it’s a service we’re proud to offer to our patients.
But how it works and its reliability are definitely topics of interest. Let’s discuss those today, shall we?
How does it work?
Essentially, a CEREC machine is an automated laboratory that can machine crowns based off a 3D scan of your teeth. That scan is done during a crown consultation appointment with a doctor. The machine is then set to making the crown while Dr. Todd S. Resek and Howard C. Nader prepares your tooth for the crown.
After that, the process is exactly like getting a regular crown.
Do they last?
These crowns are made from the same material as one you’d have to wait weeks for. Our team at Oakmont Family Dentists in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, has seen a lot of bad crowns. Ones made in a CEREC machine are just as reliable as you could hope for.
CEREC crowns are likely the right choice for you if you’re looking to make a difference in your smile. To learn more or to schedule an appointment, call us today at 412-828-3311.
